WAS KEINER KANN – (AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK)
One year after the death of his father Martin Zeylams van Emmichoven (42) has a vision: like his father, he wants to become a priest in the anthroposophical Christian community. The film accompanies Martin Z. during the 4 years of his education at the priests seminar. A road full of questions and doubts: am I ready? What is individual freedom? Can it be found in religion? If so, where and how? Questions and doubts that future colleagues of Martin Z. also have to deal with – all of them priests, all at different points in their biographies. The Film accompanies all of them in their home countries: Lars K. (71) is a priest in Finland, Nargizi T. (44) in Georgia, Tom T. (56) in Bochum/Germany. At the end, Martin will have to make a decision. “An impossible Task” is an intimate portrait as well as a roadmovie with a spiritual dimension. It deals with universal questions and tries to offer the viewer space for his or her own thoughts, by its decelerated narrative style.
