JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The chef at one of the businesses in this week’s Restaurant Report says he doesn’t agree with the reason his restaurant was shut down.
Caribbean Soul and Cuisine on Norwood Avenue
The chef at Caribbean Soul and Cuisine on Norwood Avenue says the roaches the inspector found were not even in the restaurant.
He says it shares a hallway with other businesses and can’t control what happens there.
“He came in the hallway, and for some reason, they say they found a roach in the hallway,” the chef said. “The inspector says it was a main area, so I don’t know why he did it.”
The inspector says seven live roaches were found in the food storage area behind reach-in freezers.
The report does say the roaches were found in an area adjacent to the restaurant.
The restaurant does have to have a follow-up inspection for adding a storage area, but it was able to reopen the next day.

Wendy’s on Norwood Avenue
Wendy’s on Norwood Avenue was also shut down this week.
The inspector says there were about 28 live flying insects inside the restaurant, 12 of which were under and around the condiments and drink dispenser.
It was also cited for a dead roach in the prep area.
Wendy’s reopened the next day.

Crazy Crooks on Lem Turner Road was also on the list of closures.
It was cited for operating without a license.
