Locally heavy rainfall with thunderstorms will continue across Alachua and southern Columbia counties through late tonight. Flood Warnings will continue through 11 p.m. For Alachua County. Showers and downpours continue along US 90 and I-10 for Baker and Columbia counties.
Some lucky yards from the beaches to I-75 got a nice watering while others will have a surplus of puddles through late tonight. Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies tonight with areas of fog will develop before sunrise.
Rain chances return tomorrow and Thursday as an area of low pressure moves across the state. The low, which is soaking south Florida, will bring some tropical moisture to the area with increasing rain chances before it moves offshore. The low then has a slight chance of Tropical development over the next 7 days.
Wednesday and Thursday will be the best chance of showers and storms and I would like to see higher chances. Showers and storms will develop after 2 p.m. with around the same chances that we saw today, 40-60 percent.
The chance of showers and storms will continue Friday through Father’s Day, with limited coverage.
Eleven days into the 2024 Hurricane Season and we have something to watch. The NHC is watching an area in the Atlantic, this is the same low that is bringing soaking rain across South Florida. The low has a 0 percent chance for development in the next 2 days, a 20 percent chance over the next 7 days.
