Poe Pinson’s grind to Paris: Fernandina Beach 19-year-old will advance in Olympic Qualifier Series for women’s street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – She’s grinding her way to the top with the hopes of making it to the 2024 Olympics.

Poe Pinson, 19, from Fernandina Beach, just returned from competing in the Street Skateboarding finals during the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai, China.

Pinson placed 4th and will be heading into the next Olympic Qualifier Series stage in Budapest, Hungary from June 20 to June 23. She told the Olympics that she’s had a challenging journey, overcoming injuries and setbacks. But she gave it her all, landing a big trick that pushed her to 4th.

Poe, alongside her dad, Kenny Pinson, sat down with First Coast Connect on WJCT to talk about the qualifying round. Poe spoke about her partnership with Nike SB, her travel, and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Poe ended up qualifying for the next round, sitting in 26th as the third American skater in the list that will ultimately determine who will compete in Paris, the Olympics said.

  • Akama Liz – 274.35.
  • Yoshizawa Coco – 257.73.
  • Poe Pinson – 254.06.
