Women Veterans Recognition Week kicks off at City Hall, includes events all week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Women Veterans Recognition Week, which runs through Saturday, kicked off Monday with a proclamation from the mayor in City Hall.

Now in its 10th year, Week of Recognition (WOR) celebrates the accomplishments of women who served and brings community awareness to the challenges they face when transitioning from uniform to civilian life.

The week wraps with a star-studded gala that will honor women who served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War eras.

The week of events is open to the public. Some events require registration and/or tickets, which are available here.

List of events:

  • Opening ceremony/proclamation: 10 a.m. Monday at City Hall Atrium (Free)
  • Paint & sip: 6-9 p.m. Monday at Flying Fish Tap House, 1341 Airport Road ($35)
  • VSO Forum: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday at Keiser University, 6430 Southpoint Parkway (Free)
  • Women, Wealth & Wine: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at 1937 Spirits & Eatery, 1842 Kings Avenue ($20)
  • VA Women’s Health Fair: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at JAX VA OPC & Domiciliary, 145 Heron Bay Road (Free)
  • Women Veterans Recognition Gala: 6 p.m. Saturday at Southbank Hotel Ballroom, 151 Prudential Drive ($120)
