Former WWE Hall of Famer ‘Sunny’ moved to controversial prison in Ocala nearly 3 months after 17 year sentencing

Former WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch, 52, who was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for a fatal DUI crash in 2022 has been moved from a detention center to the Lowell Correctional Institution in Ocala.

Sytch, aka “Sunny” in the wrestling world, was on trial for manslaughter in the death of a 75-year-old man after crashing into his parked car at a stoplight in Daytona Beach Shores. Sytch’s blood alcohol level was three and a half times the legal limit.

After tearfully reading a prepared statement and court deliberations, Sytch was sentenced to approximately 17 years in prison with eight years of probation.

Sytch was housed at an initial detention center, but according to inmate records, she was listed as an inmate at the Lowell Correction Institution, which is a women’s prison that houses over 900 inmates, as of Feb. 18.

The prison has been at the center of controversy as it was under investigation through the Department of Justice from 2018 to 2020 because of claims of rape and mistreatment of inmates.

A former inmate of the facility is Tiffany Cole, who was resentenced to life in prison for her role in the horrific deaths of Reggie and Carol Sumner, who were buried alive after a robbery in 2005.
