JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars wrapped up the second night of the draft on Friday with cornerback help and Florida State’s Jarrian Jones.
The selection of Jones fills one of Jacksonville’s greatest pre-draft needs — a shutdown corner. Jones played both slot and outside corner with the Seminoles and also played well at those positions at the Shrine Bowl. At worst, Jones can line up at nickel in Ryan Nielsen’s man-heavy defense with free agent signee Ronald Darby on the outside.

Jones (6-0, 190 pounds) had three interceptions last season for Florida State. He played 44 games for the Seminoles and had 84 career tackles and five interceptions.
Earlier Friday night, Jacksonville took LSU defensive tackle Maason Smith at pick No. 48 to help bolster its line.

Entering Saturday’s final four rounds, Jacksonville has six remaining selections — two in both the fourth and fifth round and one in the sixth and seventh.
After picking up pieces at receiver, corner and on the defensive line, It has depth needs on the offensive line and at edge rusher.
